  • Folk at the Slubbers Arms
    First and third Thursday of the month from 8.30pm. Slubbers Arms, 1 Halifax Old Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD1 6HW. Informal mixed mainly instrumental session, mainly traditional English but anything goes. Players of all levels and singers welcome.

  • Leeds Folk Music Meetup
    Woodhouse Community Centre, 197 Woodhouse Street, Leeds, LS6 2NY
    A fortnightly class for folk musicians on any instruments, it is a drop in session running every Wednesday so no membership necessary. The group is led by a folk violinist and a violin teacher Iveta Hlavenkova. They learn a new tune every week. You can learn by ear so no need to read music. But sheet music in treble clef and chords provided.
    No experience with folk music necessary, suitable for anyone who wants to learn something new and has some basic skills on the instrument.

    Wednesday 8-9pm intermediate, Woodhouse Community Centre
    Thursdays 7-8.15 advanced (see Leeds Folk Fiddle Group for more details, the Thursday group meets at 1 St Marks Ave, LS2 9BN and requires a membership, please call/email to book your place if you plan to attend - booking necessary. Leeds Folk Fiddle Group is a performing ensemble and is suitable for players of advanced levels)
